Integrated Water Management Planning: A Discussion on Social Benefit Considerations
April 25, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT
This fall, River Network held a series of webinars co-hosted by Urban Waters Learning Network to better understand Integrated Water Management (IWM) and share examples of communities that are implementing IWM practices to achieve the “triple bottom line” of environmental, social, and economic benefits. Webinar topics included an overview of integrated water management and sessions that examined how communities are responding to sewage pollution, water scarcity, and flood risk issues in ways that break down silos for how water is managed.
Based on input from webinar participants, River Network would like to host a follow up discussion to the webinar series to discuss social benefit considerations for IWM planning. This discussion will not be a webinar in the traditional sense – it will be an exchange of ideas on what’s worked and what has not for various communities.
Justin Bousquin, Social Scientist with EPA’s Office of Research and Development (EPA-ORD) will join us to discuss specific tools and approaches to get the most out of environmental decision making.
Are you curious as to how your community can achieve social benefits from implementing projects that address climate change, stormwater pollution, and restore natural hydrology? Come prepared to participate as we dive into specific tools, examples, and brainstorm how you can weave integrated water management into your community and how your community can reap the social benefits.
